REHUMANISING AFTER SOUTH AMERICA AND HALLOWEEN - November 2, 2005

ok i'm taking matters into my own hands and composing my own news. actually this one is more of a blog.. anyway, screw that other ho.

i'm home. detox never felt so good. was is worth it? nahhhh. kidding. santiago lies right at the foothills of the andes mountains which tower over everything. they're breathtaking, as was expected. we actually had a day to cruise around and check out the city. while there's not much "going on" in santiago, our jaunt along the mining dirt roads through the foothills was all i really wanted to do. empanada fuel is delicious, albeit filling. chilean wine is gorgeous.

the festival venue in santiago was a fairly ghetto stadium, the site of a student massacre which occurred, scarily, not too long ago. both santiago and buenos aires shows were played with the brazilian girls, morcheeba and dizzee rascal. morcheeba has a new lead vocalist, jody. she's got super positive energy. plays the saxophone too. i never saw skye (their original singer) live so i can't compare, but jody solidly held it down. i can't imagine it was easy for her filling skye's shoes. anhow, morcheeba... what happened to the trip hop? i was watching a pop show. This was not cool. i felt like an old school fischerspooner fan who had been done wrong by the new rock band! brazilian girls live was a treat. bought an album of theirs not too long ago (self titled) and love it. fusion-y electronic, super sexy beats with a great sense of humor. they were a great group of guys too. front woman, sabina sciubba is probably one of the hottest performers i have seen. her physical presence is completely captivating. i didn't know legs like that existed! italian, of course, and even better, smart, and funny. the whole package. but enough about her! i highly recommend this band, buy the albums, get to a live show.

buenos aires i didn't get to see much of, unfortunately. ahem. can't quite figure out if i'm getting too old for this kind of party, you know the one that lasts until 1 pm. what i did see reminded me too much of europe, which i'm sorry to say kinda disappointed me. i’m in south america, dammit! by the time i got on the plane that night (we played at 3am) i hadn't really slept. the flight was 10 hours long. we got into JFK at 6am and did a sold out gig that night at irving plaza in fluorescent unitards. the long awaited halloween extravaganza. one of the opening groups got kicked out for getting completely naked on stage. way too much free alcohol was provided at the after party. my dear friend josh dodes came out WITHOUT fav drummer, joe bonadio. and joe, i don’t care what your excuse was. see?? now i’m just depressed again……anyway it was josh’s first time seeing fischerspooner live. he loved it.

right now i am still recovering. eating cream of wheat. sulking bc i didn’t get to hang out with joe. the milk overflowed while i was boiling it. tastes like shit. DON'T OVER BOIL YOUR MILK, PEOPLE. mom's coming up from baltimore tonight. imma get back to sweeping.

so... i'm pretty sure we are doing a show in miami right after thanksgiving.... after that? i’m workin on it. stay tuned!

ADRIAN LOOKS FOR LIFE - September 30, 2005

RETURNING FROM IBIZA WITH FISCHERSPOONER AS THE SUMMER DRAWS TO A CLOSE - September 23, 2005

The summer consisted primarily of a weekly residence at the "world's greatest party," Manumission, held at the "world's biggest club," Privelege. Singing backups for Fischerspooner has had it's ups. This summer Adrian saw London, Paris, Zurich, Istanbul, Moscow, Oslo, a city in Belgium not remembered, Berlin, Amsterdam. The Barcelona airport was a second home. The beaches on Ibiza were breathtaking. The food kinda sucked.
