5.18.10 WINDING DOWN FROM TOUR, HEATING UP CONEY

The months following the closing of Blue Man Group's Megastar Tour have been strange.  For the first time in 3 years i have an apartment, i cook my own meals, i spend practically every Saturday morning in Prospect Park and have become involved in too many projects (i had to quit a few of them because i had no idea how to manage my time).  It is finally time to perform again, i think.  I am really excited to unveill (pun certainly intended) a project i have been putting together with composer/pianist Albert Garzon and the Ixion Burlesque Co, where he will play the composer Kurt Weill and i will play his legendary wife, Lotte Lenya (the woman was a star all over Europe in the 20s and 30s and could not get a break in NYC until long after her husband's death.  Not until her late 60s did she finally succeed in conquering Broadway as Fräulein Schneider in the original Broadway cast of the musical, Cabaret).  I had been feeling the need for a different sort of challenge.  This one is particularly multifaceted, as i will be singing more classical style cabaret music in German and French, and doing a bit of acting.  All of these elements essentially bring me back to my roots-- as an angsty teenager struggling with art, beauty and heavy metal at a near-fascist performing arts school in Baltimore.  I'm having a blast with this project.  And, yes, there are an abundance of fantastic burlesque dancers involved too.  Our first show will be held at Coney Island's Sideshows by the Seashore on June 3rd (check calendar dates for details).

I have also been reacquainting myself with dear friends i have missed while on the road.  Some of us have been catching up via the infamous Mermaid Parade in Coney Island.  This year we (the Sexcamaids) will be dancing our fins off in the hopefully blazing hot sun on Sat. June 19th, 2pm:)

5.20.09 ROCK AND THEOLOGY

My very brilliant friend, Tom Beaudoin, associate professor of theology at Fordham University's Graduate School, has asked me to join his latest project, rockandtheology.com, a blog that explores the relationship between rock music and theology.  This discussion isn't about Christian/religious rock music (although the discussion exists!), it's about viewing rock music in the context of what it may offer, on a spiritual and cultural level.

While most of the contributers seem to approach the project from a Christian theologian perspective, it is my understanding that Tom means for the conversation to pull as many belief systems as possible (even mine, which i consider to be more spiritual and not religious at all ) into the equation.  I am very thankful to him for involving me.  This forward-thinking dialogue pushes the envelope from the rock side, as well as the faith side, from an academic perspective i find to be both challenging and inspiring.  Check it out!

3.15.09 MEGASTAR IN THE UK

Blue Man Group's Megastar World Tour has just kicked off their 2 weeks stint in the UK.  For the past 2 months, Lisbon, Portugal's casino sit down transformed every lively theatre audience, and Megastar is now back in its rightful arena space, bringing down the house, as usual.  Blue Man Group is scheduled to play the O2 Arena in London this Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th.  Check calendar dates for additional, upcoming shows in the UK, as well as Tel Aviv, and Canada in the fall.

9.22.08 MEGASTAR TOUR, FALL '08

Greetings and happy first day of Autumn from Ontario! Blue Man Group's How to be a Megastar show has now been translated into German, Dutch, Danish, and Canadian. Yes, I meant to say that. Eight languages so far. Not bad. The show opens in Austria on October 15th and will bound its way through Denmark, Germany and Holland through November. Check the calendar for show dates and details in Europe and Canada.

The group is enjoying two days off in Kingston before continuing our eastward Canadian rockage... Catch the spirit, catch the spit.

Who knows when hip hop/comedy trail blazer, Mike Relm's highly anticipated album, Spectacle is dropping. Sometime this fall, sometime soon, we hope! Thankfully, the video for the single, "Everytime", featuring Adrian (that's me) and Del (The Funky Homosapien) is up on youtube. Here's the link.

1.12.08 STAR ACADEMY FRANCE

Star Academy is like American Idol only the contestants live together and have their daily lives filmed.  I will be taking a short break from Megastar to appear on the French reality show, with the blue men and band, as a guest star.  The taping is scheduled for Feb. 1, in Paris, where the group will perform Megastar sensation "I Feel Love".  Star Academy will be my second reality show appearance, the first being VH1's elusive Bands on the Run in 2001.

1.27.07 ON THE ROAD WITH BLUE MAN GROUP

After 3 months of being on call as Tracy Bonham's understudy for the HOW TO BE A MEGASTAR 2.0 Blue Man Group Tour, I have been asked to join the blue men and company for their second leg.  With Seattle's Everett Events Center 96% sold, I am more than psyched.  Say hello to the bus!
